Raised in a small farming town in eastern Utah, artist Trent Gudmundsen spent his childhood among God’s vast creations, and enjoyed interpreting those creations in his art. By the time he was twelve, Gudmundsen already had a determination to make his life one of art. With little training or “book knowledge” he would bring his easel out into the fields near his house to paint whenever he got the chance. He was lucky enough to gain some direction from landscape artist VaLoy Eaton, who helped Trent focus the direction of his passion for painting.

Although Trent found his artistic beginnings in the landscapes of the West, he is equally drawn to paint any subject that has the right "magic". In particular, Trent has developed a unique way of capturing on canvas the happenings of people in their "natural" settings.

In 2003 Gudmundsen was selected for inclusion in Southwest Art's "21 Under 31" article (Sept. 03 issue), marking his official entry into the art world as an emerging artist. Also in 2003, Trent's painting "Eleven A.M." was chosen by juror Kevin Macpherson for an Award of Excellence at the Oil Painters of America National show in Taos. Trent has had many other honors including: Arts for the Parks Top 200 Exhibit (2004), IMCM's Salon International, as well as numerous gallery and museum shows. Gudmundsen's love of painting is only surpassed by his love for his family, and their honor of God.

Trent and his family make their home in Logan, Utah.
