NANCY HARKINS
For me, it is not enough just to look at the beauty of creation; I feel compelled to explore with eye and brush all the wonderful shapes, colors, contrasts, and moods God has so lovingly arranged to His glory and our delight! Discovering the village of Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico, promised an exciting subject to paint with a rhythm created by the various rectangular roofs and contrasted with the organic shapes of mountains, trees, and clouds. I was especially intrigued by the dramatic mood that the clouds provided.

Strong value contrasts and patterns of light and shadow in Nancy Harkins’ landscapes and architectural subjects have won her awards in numerous regional and national exhibitions. She has captured that same drama in over one hundred botanical iris paintings, two of which are published in the book, The Best of Flower Painting. Her work is also featured in two other books, Seasons of Life and Seasons of Love.
In addition to mounting several one-woman shows, Harkins has shown at Gilcrease Museum. She is an associate member of Women Artists of the West and holds signature memberships in Oklahoma Watermedia Association and Pennsylvania Watercolor Association.
