The subject of this oil painting of the Rocky Mountains is the late day light when the mountains turn misty and insubstantial and the sunbeams stream down onto the fall colors of the valley floor.

He is a painter, teacher, and author whose professional experience and achievements span more than 30 years. His plein air and studio work in oil, pastel and watercolor has been featured in numerous articles in major art magazines and reference books on the subject of painting. His website gallery is www.johnhulsey.com. Two years ago, he created a teaching website, www.theartistsroad.net, to share his experience and knowledge with anyone who wishes to learn how to paint. He also writes an educational column for Artist Daily, the online version of American Artist magazine, on the subject of plein air painting.
