Grace was introduced to pastels at an early age by her parents, who were professional artists, and has studied and worked in the medium throughout her life. She paints a variety of subjects in an impressionistic style, with an emphasis on the effect of light and color. Her intention is to suggest an interpretation of the landscape or subject - so those who see her paintings will sense her love of the subject and feel that they can step into the picture for a moment.

She is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of Colorado, a member of the Artists Association Northern Colorado (AANC), a member of the Plein Air Artists of Colorado (PAAC), and a juried member of Trimble Court Artisans. Grace’s work is exhibited in the Trimble Court gallery in downtown Fort Collins, Colorado.

Her pastel “The Pond” (2010 live auction) recently received the People’s Choice Award at the Lines into Shapes Exhibition in Estes Park, Colorado.

Grace’s plein air pastel “Terry Lake Visitors” (2010 silent auction) received 1st Place Pastel at the 2009 Artist Association of Northern Colorado Small Artworks Show in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Grace Goodson ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Pastel is my medium of choice because of its intoxicating colors. I love working with pastels... applying pigment directly to paper or other surface fits well with the way I see things and my desire to capture and interpret color and light. Color and light are essential for conveying a mood, and my artwork is just that...an attempt to convey and share my emotional response to the subject at hand.

While landscapes, birds, and florals have been my focus for a number of years, a constant need for new challenges means I always work to improve my technique and look for new and different subjects. Lately, I’ve been drawn to depicting wildlife and ...cows.

I have always found artistic and spiritual inspiration in the extraordinary ordinary moments in nature and everyday life. My hope that you will also find something that reaches your soul through my artwork...and that it enhances your own sense of appreciation for the beauty around us.
