David W. Mayer's 2011 Artist's Biography
David W. Mayer is a member of the Oil Painters of America (OPA), as well as a past member of the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters (RMPAP). He is an avid impressionist and plein air landscape painter with an emphasis on portraying the beauty of the Rocky Mountain West and has studied with Scott Christensen, T. Allen Lawson, Kevin MacPherson, and Ted Goerschner, as well as through the writings and works of Richard Schmid, Edgar Payne, Joaquin Sorolla and the California Impressionists.
David has won major national awards such as the Award of Excellence at the national exhibition of the Oil Painters of America (OPA) and the Salon International Show. He has had sold out shows at the Arts of Denver Gallery and the C.M. Russell events during March Art Week in Montana. He has the honor of being shown and sold in numerous national miniature shows including the prestigious Settlers West Gallery Trailside Galleries show. His landscape painting “Changing Seasons” was featured in the March, 2011 landscape issue of Western Art Collector.
